Crafted from a harmonious blend of Sangiovese and Merlot grapes sourced from our vineyards boasting a minimum age of 7 years, our Chianti Classico embodies a unique expression of time-honored tradition.
Thriving on soils abundant in clay and limestone, these vines flourish at an elevation of approximately 350 meters above sea level. In August, meticulous bunch thinning sets the stage for a meticulous winemaking process, with fermentation in contact with the skins spanning 15–20 days. The subsequent refinement unfolds over 6 months in both barrique and cask, followed by an additional 4 months of aging in the bottle.
"Pretty Killer Chianti Classico—the Podere La Cappella offers a happy juxtaposition of bright, ripe fruit and rugged earthy rusticity. On the nose it smells of baby wild strawberries, sour black cherry, jammy preserves, and black tea accompanied by subtle whispers of white truffle, and freshly sliced white mushrooms. On the palate, a dry dusty cling that you typically only find at the riserva level--shockingly affordable quality.14.5%" --Codey Foster, Wine Director
These exquisite wines, shrouded in a veil of limited information, invite connoisseurs to explore the mysterious depths of their character and craftsmanship.
2021 is already being spoken about as one of the great vintages for Chianti. It might be early days but there seems little to suggest the contrary. This is a blend of 90% Sangiovese and 10% Merlot, which spent a year in barriques, which were two and three years of age. A vibrant magenta hue, this is spicy, earthy and exhibiting animal skin notes, blueberries, tobacco leaves, raspberries, chocolate and aniseed. As appealing as the aromas are, the wine really opens up on the palate. Bright acidity and freshness. Cherry skin tannins. Love this and it just kept improving in the glass. Any time over the next decade.
