Crafted in homage to the esteemed Johann Gramp's grandson, Hugo, our premier offering, the St Hugo Cabernet Sauvignon, is an embodiment of excellence. Sourced from the most exceptional vineyards in the renowned Coonawarra region, this wine captivates with its quintessential notes of regional mint and blackcurrant on the nose. The palate unfolds in a velvety cascade, revealing elegant fruit characters, nuanced by a touch of toasty oak and culminating in a lingering finish adorned with long, fine tannins.
Bright crimson-purple; this is the 27th release of St Hugo, and fittingly has won a trophy and five gold medals, likely with more to come; it has an abundance of blackcurrant fruit plus nuances of regional earth and mint, then the tannins providing structure for long and distinguished ageing.
Perfumed. Lovely introduction. Violets, peppercorns, mint and cedary oak. Palate is fruity but interesting, with undergrowth and blackcurrant, dried herbs and milk chocolate. Lots of minty, milky chocolate. Some smoky oak too. Juicy finish. Fine, rippling tannin. Very good St Hugo.
