Vecchia Torre is an established cooperative with 1100 members, originally started with 44, all men and two women. Small landowners, farmers, teachers, and a priest. From these quite beginnings the cooperative is now thriving, producing key native varieties to the region; Negroamaro, Primitivo and Malvasia Nera di Lecce. Vermentino, though not a local grape, finds Puglia, Salento in particular - very suitable for cultivation. This Vermentino is straw yellow in color, with greenish flecks. Floral notes, distinguished by a divisive mineral backbone, a pleasantly textural palate - perfect with grilled fish and a Greenleaf salad.
