Cascina in Langa Amalia is a small producer based in Monforte d'Alba. The 2010 Barolo Le Coste di Monforte shows lots of evident oak, with cinnamon and tar in front of dark cherry, blackberry and plum. All that extra spice adds a note of astringency to the finish. Only 3,500 bottles were made. This wine ages in large oak casks for two and a half years.
