The palate is medium-bodied with ripe tannin and acidity that is perhaps singing from a different hymn book. There is body and volume here, though it is missing a little persistence on the finish, and runs out the back door before you have really got acquainted. Afford these 4 - 5 years to fully coalesce and I am sure it will merit a higher score.
