Antinori Tignanello IGT Magnum 1.5L 2015
Tignanello holds a significant place in the history of Italian wine. It was the first Sangiovese to undergo barrique aging, as well as the initial red wine in the Chianti Classico region to exclude white grapes and incorporate non-traditional varieties such as Cabernet. This milestone blend comprises Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc.
Tenuta Tignanello, situated amid the rolling hills between the Greve and Pesa river valleys, is a sprawling estate spanning 319 hectares, with around 130 hectares reserved for vineyards. Two of the estate's most prized vineyards, Tignanello and Solaia, are situated on the same hillside and have limestone and schist-rich marine marlstone soils from the Pliocene period. The vines benefit from warm days and cooler evenings during the growing season.
Tignanello and Solaia, the estate's signature wines, are produced from these vineyards and are considered by the international press to be among the most influential wines in Italian viticulture's history. According to Marchesi Antinori, Solaia and Tignanello remain a perpetual passion and a challenging pursuit. Along with Sangiovese grapes, the Tignanello estate cultivates other non-traditional varieties such as Cabernet Franc.
On the nose, the notes of ripe red fruit, together with cassis and blackberries, are in perfect balance with the hints of chocolate and licorice.
The palate is rich, ample, and vibrant and is endowed with lively and silky tannins which give a great complexity and an important length to the finish and aftertaste.
