RP, named after Robyn Pamela, matriarch of the Farr family, sources its fruit from the meticulously managed Côte Vineyard. This close-planted, exposed slope boasts select clones, rootstocks, and trellising. Handpicked and vineyard-sorted, the fruit undergoes open-top fermentation. About 40-50% is destemmed and cold soaked for four days. Aging in 50-60% new Allier French oak barrels extends for 18 months.
A deep, dark red with slight black edges and a vibrant dark red hue. Aromas of violets, red and dark cherries, and a hint of sour cherries mingle with dried clove, meatiness, stalk, and spicy cedar. Powerful yet light, the palate evokes a Burgundian flavor profile. Savory red and dark cherry notes interweave with strawberry, subtle dried clove, meaty nuances, and cedar spice. Velvety tannins underlie a rich texture, concealed by expansive flavors. The finish is enduring, featuring sour to dark cherry, strawberry, clove, meat, subtle stalk, and cedar notes. An exceptional wine.
