100 years since the foundation of Azelia. This has been possible thanks to five generations, starting from an extremely poor reality, the one of the Piedmont of early 1900. In 1920 Cavalier Lorenzo Scavino began to vinify part of the grapes produced in the family’s vineyards, a small rural reality in the heart of the Langhe region, in Castiglione Falletto. His son Alfonso started enthusiastically to bottle the wine produced and thanks to Luigi’s father, Lorenzo, with perseverance and willpower, the wines were for the first time exported. Hard work, great experience, and moral strength can really create something extraordinary.
From the heart of Serralunga d’Alba, a cru with great complexity generates a complex and successful wine backed by a strong sapidity. Small black fruits, currants, and blackberries followed by hints of marjoram and closing on the notes of licorice. Taut and dense mouth, salty tannins. Beautiful length. On the finish, floral bursts of geranium.
Smells like a bunch of fresh roses with strawberries and white mushrooms. It’s full-bodied with a very fine, layered palate with lightly dusty tannins. It’s extremely long and sophisticated.
