Charles Ballot took the helm of his family’s already respected Domaine, and began to make his mark by moving to more natural farming methods, reducing yields, buying a triage table, and updating the press.
Today, the estate is comprised of 10 hectares of vineyards, seven of which are in Meursault proper. The holdings are reputable and the relative vine age is old. Simply put, Ballot Millot's 2019s are absolutely amazing. Burghound writes: "They are knock-out good. Meursault's output is almost entirely white wines, made from Chardonnay grapes. The commune's wines are renowned for being among the richer, more full-bodied Burgundy whites. Tasting notes commonly cite notes of butter, almonds, and grilled hazelnuts, alongside the finer citrus fruit and mineral elements. The geological differences across the commune's vineyards are famously discernible in their wines.
PRE-ARRIVAL WINE.
Notes of poached pear, acacia, hazelnut, and a whiff of spice give way to dense, intense, and beautifully textured medium-bodied flavours that possess impressive depth and persistence on the citrus-infused finale. This too is excellent for its level and well worth checking out.
