Renowned and respected as one of the finest producers in Burgundy, Bouchard Père et Fils has truly become an institution, known for the exceptional quality of their wines and the diversity of its many vineyards.
Founded in 1731, Bouchard Père et Fils has built up an estate of 130ha and, collectively, is the largest owner of Grand Crus (12ha) and Premier Crus (74ha) across the Côte d’Or. Bouchard Père et Fils represents almost one hundred ‘climats’ or uniquely diverse vineyards, including prestigious monopoles such as ‘Beaune Grèves Vigne de l’Enfant Jésus’ and ‘Chevalier-Montrachet La Cabotte’.
Porusot (sometimes spelled "Poruzot" or "Le/s Porusot/s") is a Premier Cru vineyard of the Meursault appellation in Burgundy's Cote de Beaune sub-region. Located (like so many) on the midslope of the Côte d'Or escarpment, the vineyard enjoys a limestone-predominant terroir that is very well suited to the production of high-quality wines made from Chardonnay.
This is sufficiently reduced to blur the nuances of what appear to be ripe aromas. The dense, powerful and serious larger-scaled flavors possess plenty of sappy dry extract which helps to buffer both the very firm acid spine as well as a touch of tannin on the bitter lemon, austere and built-to-age finale. This is very Poruzots in character and should age accordingly.
