“Being the 6th generation of the family producing wines was and still is a challenge for me, trying to avoid the pressure you could have with this “wine heritage”. But with the quality of the vineyard that my family passed on, the basis of the expression of our wines is here, and our work is to honour our terroirs. Looking back on what we did since the first vintage 2002 with my father and our team, I am very proud of all the work we did together, to increase step by step, the quality and the typicity of our wines. With respect to the persons, of nature, and with humility, we will continue this way and face all the new challenges in front of us. As my father says, “Chablis is unique”, and our goal is to show it!”
This cuvée of Clos des Hospices is located inside the main appellation of les Clos. It is a parcel of 0,5ha bought by the Moreau family from the Hospices of Chablis in 1904. It has always been vinified separately since then.
Once again the nose reflects just enough wood to be worth pointing out though it easily allows the slightly riper if otherwise similar aromas to shine. There is also excellent intensity to the dense, powerful and punchy broad-shouldered, and sappy flavours that display outstanding length on the balanced and slightly more persistent finale. The regular cuvée is a bit racier and this is a bit weightier and more powerful, so these two wines offer, in essence, a qualitative choice.
