Located in the heart of the town of Chablis, with a very rich history dating back to 1540, Domaine Pinson was among the first winemakers in Chablis to bottle their wines for public sale in 1880 when they also exported their first wine to America. The ‘Frères’ in the name are brothers Laurent and Christophe Pinson. The Domaine today is run by Charlène and her father Laurent Pinson. Charlène started making the wine here in 2008 after finishing a degree in viticulture and winemaking in Beaune and then gaining plenty of experience working in the Rhône Valley.
This Chablis is from one of their largest holdings (4 hectares) with plenty of white stones and Kimmeridgian limestone. It’s a continuation and the same exposure as the Grand Cru Les Clos. This wine is fermented in 10% new oak and the remainder in stainless steel before being aged in 1 to 3-year-old barrels for 9 months.
Bright pale lemon colour. The bouquet shows the oak a little more, having been vinified in part in the barrel. Integrates very well mind you. Very complete, with greater intensity, just the right acidity, and the marine tension we are looking for. Light biscuit at the back from the barrel. This is a Chablis that needs keeping but will be excellent. Bravo.
