Description

Nestled in Chablis since 1540, Domaine Pinson is a trailblazer, bottling wines for public sale in 1880 and exporting to America. Today, Charlène and Laurent Pinson, a dynamic father-daughter team, lead the domaine. Their prized possession is the Grand Cru 'Les Clos,' constituting 10% of their holdings with vines dating back to 1962. Bathed in Southern exposure and nurtured by Kimmeridgian limestone, these exceptional wines blend tradition and innovation.

Crafted with precision, 80% stainless steel and 20% new barrels shape the fermentation, and aging in 3-4-year-old barrels culminates in a wine bottled in February 2022. Domaine Pinson's legacy lives on—a harmonious symphony of history, terroir, and craftsmanship in every bottle.

A deft but not invisible application of wood sets off ripe yet cool aromas of citrus peel, pear and apple compote along with hints of mineral reduction and oyster shell. There is excellent volume and impressive mid-palate density to the larger-scaled flavors that flash focused power on the youthfully austere and superbly long finale that exhibits a touch of wood. This classy effort is very promising and built to reward extended keeping.

Paler colour here, and a clearly backward nose. Not that it stuns you with its power from the outset, but there is clearly more to this wine – which was properly protected from the frost, with only the upper section suffering. All in white fruit, a little tension, some marine qualities, discreet and quite long. Lovely salinity to finish. Drink from 2027-2035.
