This vintage is already being hailed as one of the greatest in Grosset’s illustrious career. A cool growing season has yielded fruit of unmatched purity and intensity, resulting in a wine that’s both powerful and exquisitely refined.
The vineyard itself, a ‘hard rock’ site with its silt and shale soils over a bed of blue slate, forces the vines to struggle, producing small, flavour-packed berries that translate into a wine of remarkable concentration and longevity. This is a Riesling built to age gracefully over decades, with a finish that lingers for a full sixty seconds, showcasing both its delicate finesse and underlying power.
The essence of the Clare, time will most certainly reveal this to be one of the greatest in Grosset's 44 vintage history, and one of the finest Australian rieslings conjured yet.
