Sordo Barolo Monprivato DOCG 2019
This represents the pinnacle of Sordo's Monprivato, and we can't resist uncorking a 2016 and a 2015 just to double-check! Sordo's Monprivato has unmistakably ascended a few notches this year.
Nestled among the most prestigious Barolo vineyards, this vineyard shares the same lofty status as Villero, yet comes at a fraction of the price compared to Giuseppe Mascarello's. It marries elegance with intensity, showcasing the delicacy that defines Monprivato when it's truly in its prime. Some might describe it as Burgundian, but I prefer to label it as exquisitely sophisticated. This wine is finely tuned, harmonious, and whole, delivering unrivaled purity and boundless energy.
Nebbiolo pairs well with rich, hearty dishes like roasted red meats, truffle-based dishes, or aged cheeses.
Quite a pretty wine here, despite the pedigree and potential, with an almost juicy quality and a delicate web of ultra-fine, al dente tannins.
The wine showcases a notable flavor potency, led by dark cherry, complemented by notes of turned earth, hazelnut, dried cranberry, cola, and fennel. It possesses a captivating mouth perfume, combining floral and fresh elements with hints of sour cherry and truffle, ultimately elevating on a refreshing note and displaying a tremendously long, enduring finish. This wine is an architectural expression set for a serious future.
