This represents the pinnacle of Sordo's Monprivato, and we can't resist uncorking a 2016 and a 2015 just to double-check! Sordo's Monprivato has unmistakably ascended a few notches this year.
Nestled among the most prestigious Barolo vineyards, this vineyard shares the same lofty status as Villero, yet comes at a fraction of the price compared to Giuseppe Mascarello's. It marries elegance with intensity, showcasing the delicacy that defines Monprivato when it's truly in its prime. Some might describe it as Burgundian, but I prefer to label it as exquisitely sophisticated. This wine is finely tuned, harmonious, and whole, delivering unrivaled purity and boundless energy.
Quite a pretty wine here, despite the pedigree and potential. Almost a juiciness to the wine with the web of ultra fine al dente tannin. It has some potency to flavour, dark cherry-led with turned earth, hazelnut, dried cranberry, cola and fennel. It has a kind of mouth perfume, floral, dried and fresh, sour cherry, truffle; it elevates on a sense of freshness and drives long, long, long. Architectural expression and set for a serious future.
