Sordo Barolo Rocche di Castiglione DOCG 2016

Rich, floral perfume, dark cherry, raspberry liqueur, liquorice, five spice. Dense, juicy but deep fruit, wide grain tannin, mouth-perfume, very long and savoury, all the mineral and good stuff.

Rich and liquorice-y red wine here. Quite an obvious, front foot forward style, sweet-fruited, ripe feeling, kirsch-like, good grip from web of silty-earthy tannins, cool acidity underlying, speckled with amaro-like character. A feast here. Barolo in Dolby Surround Sound. Very impressive if not obvious candidate for quality.
