This wine embodies the essence of our Luminosa Vineyard. Nestled atop the prestigious Boodjidup Valley within the Wallcliffe sub-region of southern Margaret River, our vineyard is celebrated for producing some of Margaret River's most internationally acclaimed Cabernet wines.
In the vintage of 2018, their vineyard experienced a unique journey. A wet December graced them with a significant rainfall event, surpassing 100mm during veraison, providing the ideal soil moisture for our Cabernet vineyards. Following this, dry conditions prevailed from January until mid-April, resulting in yet another classic vintage across all our Southern Margaret River vineyards.
Their winemaking process was a labor of love. Whole berries were left to ferment naturally in static fermenters, receiving pump overs twice daily and délestage once daily throughout the fermentation. The wine spent 15 days on the skins before a gentle pressing, and it was then thoughtfully transferred to French oak barriques, with 44% being new, to complete the malolactic fermentation. The wine matured gracefully in oak for a total of 14 months, allowing it to embrace the character and complexity unique to our vineyard.
