WINNER OF THE 1996 JIMMY WATSON TROPHY & 8 GOLD MEDALS.
This wine was the 1996 Jimmy Watson Trophy winner and is quickly gaining a reputation as one of Australia's premier wines. Winemaker Stephen Pannell only sources the finest parcels of fruit available to make this wine. Tasting Notes: Intense deep brick red colour. The nose displays ripe fruit aromas of blackberries, blackcurrants, and blueberries with overtones of leather, nutmeg, and toasty vanillin oak characters. The palate is rich, powerful, and silky smooth. The powerful fruit flavours are well integrated with tobacco, spice, and vanillin oak notes - excellent balance. Very long persistent aftertaste.
Medium to full purple-red; a rich and full bouquet with masses of ripe black fruits, dark chocolate and some licorice; the oak is potent, but is justified. A wine which takes no prisoners, but which has fantastic palate flavour, bursting with licorice, black cherry/berry and spice flavours surrounded by ultra-sophisticated vanilla oak.
