Renowned and respected as one of the finest producers in Burgundy, Bouchard Père et Fils has truly become an institution, known for the exceptional quality of their wines and the diversity of its many vineyards.
The soils and sub-soils of the commune of Chambolle-Musigny are of an ideal composition to produce wines of remarkable finesse and elegance, which have earned Chambolle the nickname of the "Volnay of the Côte de Nuits". The soil is not very deep, obliging the vine to search for nourishment down as far as 10 meters deep, notably on the terroir of Musigny.
Ripe, elegant, and softly spicy aromas include those of various dark berries, violet, lavender, and a hint of exotic tea. There is again fine volume to the caressing but punchy medium-weight flavours that possess a more sophisticated texture but not necessarily better depth on the youthfully austere finale. Note that there is enough underlying material as well as supporting tannins to suggest that this should add complexity with a few years of bottle age.
