Renowned and respected as one of the finest producers in Burgundy, Bouchard Père et Fils has truly become an institution, known for the exceptional quality of its wines and the diversity of its many vineyards.
Founded in 1731, Bouchard Père et Fils has built up an estate of 130ha and, collectively, is the largest owner of Grand Crus (12ha) and Premier Crus (74ha) across the Côte d’Or. Bouchard Père et Fils represents almost one hundred climates or uniquely diverse vineyards, including prestigious monopoles such as ‘Beaune Grèves Vigne de l’Enfant Jésus’ and ‘Chevalier-Montrachet La Cabotte’.
Clos des Chenes is one of Volnay's most notable premier cru vineyards, located on the midslope of the Côte d'Or escarpment. The terroir here is perfectly suited to the production of Pinot Noir, to which it is exclusively planted. Clos des Chenes Premier Cru wines are some of Volnay's best, exhibiting bright fruit characters along with fine tannins, good acidity, and plenty of elegance.
The name of this "Climat" comes, as its name suggests, from oak trees which have long since disappeared. Owner of 85 "ares" of this appellation, on chalky clay soil with chalk sub-soil, Bouchard Père & Fils only produces a little over 4000 bottles per year of this Premier Cru situated not far from Les Taillepieds.
