Description

The 2021 Unravelled is a delicious example of Central Otago Pinot, reflecting the fruits of the region, red cherries and red-fleshed plums. It is well-rounded and nicely balanced, clove and all-spice can be found in amongst the ripe red fruits. Soft, yet a ball of energy on the palate, it finishes neatly with a hint of bitterness.

Review

Deep, ruby-red, lighter on the rim, youthful appearance. This has a softly concentrated and packed nose of red cherries, ripe raspberries integrated with soft earth and spice, revealing sweet hibiscus floral elements. Medium-bodied, red cherries, and raspberries melded with liquorice, wet-earth and clove. The mouthfeel is smooth with supple, fine tannin extraction; balanced, juicy acidity lends a soft, spicy finish. This is an approachable, smooth-flowing Pinot Noir with red fruit, spice and earth details. Match with meat stew and barbeque lamb over the next 3-4 years. Wild fermented with 20% whole bunch, on skins for 18-29 days, Aged 7 months in used barrels. 17.5/20 pts
