The winery at Castiglione Falletto was built in 1982 and was created to vinify grapes coming from the finest vineyards of the Barolo denomination. It was extended in 2000, with the construction of the futuristic glass Cube, which provides a perfectly integrated contrast of modern design against the profile of the hills that surround it. Bricco Rocche is the home for vinifying and aging some of the most prestigious crus of the region, as well as that of its namesake: Brunate from La Morra, Prapò from Serralunga d’Alba, and Cannubi San Lorenzo from Barolo.
Bricco Rocche, located in Castiglione Falletto, is the smallest geographic area within the Barolo specification and comprises just over 1 hectare. It is a Ceretto monopole and is one of the most spectacular sites for growing Nebbiolo grapes in the Barolo DOCG zone. While "bricco" refers to the "top of the hill" and is usually where the best exposures are found, "rocche" refers to the cliffs surrounding the vineyard.
Made with certified organic fruit, the Ceretto 2018 Barolo Bricco Rocche shows a thin texture and a mild personality with subtle aromas of dried rose, cassis, and crushed stone. This vintage is more subdued for sure, but it's silky and accessible as well. Compared to past editions, this wine shows a shy set of aromas. I’ve opened the drinking window to allow for more time for its evolution.
