The 2019 vintage is a terrific success for Domaine Dujac. Perfumed, concentrated, and vibrant, with beautifully refined tannins and bright fruit tones despite the warmth and sunshine of the vintage, I'd be happy to own any or all of the cuvées reviewed here. The Wine Advocate – William Kelley
The stellar 2019 wines have arrived and are set to become legendary. Dujac smashed it out of the park in 2019 and continues to represent some of the best drinkings in Burgundy. Sadly yields were very low in 2019 and the wines are as rare as hen's teeth.
The Domaine favours balance and freshness rather than powerful wines. The fine wines are elegant, with supple and well-integrated tannins.
Although the tools have evolved, winemaking has not changed much since the estate was first established. Their winemaking is the result of much thought and experimentation, even if it remains relatively simple and non-interventionist.
At the heart of their thinking is the idea that the most important part of the work occurs in the vineyard. The imprint the winemaker leaves should be as discreet as possible to allow the fruit to fully express its origins. Winemaking and elevage should aim at translating the unique and fragile expression of the vintage and the terroir rather than imposing a particular style. One has to trust in the quality of the grapes and allow the wine to express its own identity.
The 2019 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières exhibits scents of pear, toasted almonds, and vanilla pods. Medium to full-bodied, bright, and chalky, it's deep and concentrated, with a mouthwatering, delicately oak-inflected finish.
