Introducing Alter Weg, a testament to tradition and meticulous craftsmanship in Riesling production. This distinguished wine captures the essence of the "old way" with carefully selected, ripe Riesling fruit that undergoes a gentle pressing before resting in large format barrels for wild yeast fermentation.
Aged for over 10 months on full lees, it develops into a beautifully textured masterpiece, marrying fruit-forward richness with creamy, textural finesse. Its lightly golden hue and nuanced oxidative approach add depth to its character. Each grape is meticulously harvested at optimal coolness, ensuring soft, prolonged extraction during slow press cycles. We offer this exceptional Riesling, crafted with passion and expertise, for your enjoyment and appreciation.
Apple, lime, fennel, a little parmesan rind. Juicy, saline, cheese rind, nutty and kind of juicy, with some chalk dust grip, more of that nutty stuff, bright acidity, but fleshy too, with a whole lot of weight and lime zest on a finish of excellent length. Excellent. Frankland River via Rheinhessen. Complex and so good to drink.
Fine acidity, luscious fruit (in a riesling context), texture and length. What more do you desire? There is more: a little tug of phenolics, the openness on the palate yet slatey and reigned in by lemon-sorbet acidity. Moreish, a touch savoury and an excellent drink.
