Handpicked. The vineyard is dominated by flint and red volcanic soils over a limestone bedrock. Fruit was completely destemmed, crushed, then fermented in open-top, concrete fermenters. Pressed then aged in a combination of used demis, hogsheads, and 1200L foudre. Bottled in February 2024.
"The emerging Mount Gambier region has clearly caught the eye of Beechworth winemaker Chris Catlow. It's easy to see why with a pinot noir that is immediately upfront and vibrant. Cherry, wild raspberry, plum, pepper and cassia bark meld with attractive violet aromatics and undergrowth. A bright, sinewy, flavoursome wine that just dips a little on the finish."
