Nanny Goat 'Super Nanny' Pinot Noir 2021
Nanny Goat Vineyard is named after the wild goats that roam the mountainous terrain of the Central Otago. A wine of contrasting elements – equal measures of dark seductive plum fruit and lifted ethereal floral aromas combine to give an aroma profile that beguiles the senses and demands lengthy contemplation. The palate layers rich wild berry fruits with dark chocolate and a taut minerality, finishing with a blanket of fine tannin and a refreshing streak of bright acidity.
Carefully hand harvested and gently destemmed into small open top fermenters retaining a large proportion of whole berries alongside 16% whole bunch, the fruit is allowed to undergo a natural fermentation and extended post ferment maceration for a total of 30 – 32 days on skins before pressing to 225L French Oak barrels (29% New) where it is matured for 14 months. Bottled without fining or filtration to ensure the beauty we see in the vineyard is reflected in the finished wine.
Pan seared hare fillet, simply prepared with olive oil, sea salt and coursely ground black pepper.
The Super Nanny wine greets the senses with a commanding presence, offering an abundance of rich black fruits, primarily cherries, intertwined with subtle hints of leather, spice, and the influence of oak.
On the palate, the Super Nanny displays a robust character, with fine tannins and vibrant acidity working harmoniously to craft a lasting and refreshingly clean finish. This wine pairs exceptionally well with gamey red meats, making it an ideal choice for duck or venison, among others.
