Tolpuddle Pinot Noir 2021
Following a wet winter, the season unfolded with wetter-than-average spring conditions. This regular rainfall helped set up good soil moisture in the vineyards. We have also experienced one of the coolest seasons on record, leading to a high percentage of smaller berries, giving lower yields and excellent concentration of flavour.
Pinot Noir pairs wonderfully with a wide range of dishes, including roasted poultry, grilled salmon, mushroom-based dishes, and a variety of soft cheeses.
On the palate, there is a lot of concentrated fruit, balanced by fresh acidity and some fine tannins. Cherry and raspberry notes through to darker blueberry and boysenberry give complexity to a palate that flows seamlessly, and some Chinese five-spice characters give a hint of savoury notes to come with time.
This wine is true to the Tolpuddle Vineyard style. It has very intense red and dark berry fruit, as well as some wild fennel and rhubarb notes on the nose.
