Description

Our winemaking techniques intertwine to coax out an exotic floral fragrance, weaving seamlessly with a lusciously fruitful palate and an intricate lattice of fine tannins. Aromatically vibrant, it dances with the essence of rose petal, blue violets, and succulent plum fruits, enveloping the senses in a symphony of fragrance.

On the palate, this wine reveals its artistry—a delicate yet full-bodied experience that effortlessly balances softness with vibrancy. Each sip is a journey through layers of juicy fruits, tinged with a subtle smoky grip derived from the judicious use of stalks. As the wine unfolds, it culminates in a finish that is both structured and driving, leaving a lingering impression that lingers on the palate.

The harmonious marriage of Pinot's perfume and spice with the cool climate Shiraz's underlying structure is a testament to the synergy of these varietals. Together, they create a wine of unparalleled depth and complexity, inviting you to savor each moment and explore the endless nuances within every glass.

Pinot Noir was fermented with whole berries in 600kg fermenters and hand plunged gently. Shiraz was 100% whole bunch fermented, left untouched for 10 days before destemming to complete ferment as whole berries. The individual components spent 9 months in used French oak barriques in our underground cellar before blending and bottling.

This wine has been made with the intention to be an early drinking style of wine; perfect for the Australian climate, fragrant and delicious in its youth. It will continue to evolve for some years under suitable cellaring conditions however this is not required. Please drink it and enjoy it!

Review

The 2023 Light Dry Red Pinot Shiraz leads with raspberry pip, red licorice, pink peppercorns, cherries, Earl Grey tea, blood orange and graphite. The wine is routinely so alluring on the nose, with abundant red fruits that veritably burst forth from the glass. On the palate, the wine shows it is far more complex and serious than the buoyant (almost frivolous!) nose would suggest. Chalky tannins support the lacy-fine fruit and carry it out over the long palate. What a superb wine this is.
