Yeringberg Shiraz 2022
An elegant Shiraz enhanced with a splash of Viognier from a Yarra Valley icon.
Shiraz at Yeringberg has always followed its own path. While the Yarra Valley has long been home to elegant expressions of the variety, Sandra de Pury has shaped this wine into something uniquely Yeringberg—perfumed, finely structured, and effortlessly poised.
The 2022 Shiraz comes from three different clones (PT23, 1654, and a ‘100-year-old’ selection), each contributing layers of complexity. Low yields in this vintage meant intensely flavoured fruit, hand-picked and fermented with 15 days on skins. While Viognier often makes a cameo in this wine, 2022 saw a small addition of frozen Marsanne skins instead, lifting the aromatics and enhancing texture. Maturation took place over 20 months in French oak (30% new), giving the wine just enough polish without losing its natural vibrancy.
Rare steak and thick cut chips
There’s an ease to how this wine moves—blueberry and dark cherry meet violet, white pepper, and a touch of Moroccan spice.
The palate is supple yet structured, with a savoury, almost ferrous quality adding depth beneath the plush fruit. It’s fresh, bright, and unmistakably Yeringberg, with fine, powdery tannins and a finish that lingers just long enough to leave you wanting another sip.
