Bernhard Huber Malterdinger Weiss 2020
Elevating the essence of origin, this wine is meticulously crafted from the most esteemed Pinot Blanc vines of the Bienenberg vineyard, complemented by the finest selections from Chardonnay plots. Rooted in weathered limestone soils, the Pinot Blanc vines boast over 60 years of age, intertwining gracefully with Chardonnay vines aged up to a decade.
A composition of 70% Chardonnay and 30% Weisser Burgunder, this blend undergoes spontaneous fermentation in small French oak barrels, maturing on yeast lees for 16 months before being bottled without filtration. Beyond grape varieties, this wine is a tribute to the importance of origin, inviting you to savor the nuanced character derived from these exceptional vineyards.
It goes beautifully with fresh fish dishes, shellfish and creamy cheeses. Also perfect with light appetizers and chicken-based dishes or grilled vegetables. An ideal choice for a refined and harmonious culinary experience.
In the aromatic profile of this white, Huber's trademark finesse is evident, with lightly smoky reductive nuances framing vibrant notes of zesty lime, stone fruit, and lemongrass.
The palate experience is electric and ripe, showcasing a masterful integration of oak and crisp fruit. Julian Huber strikes a harmonious balance with this taut, Burgundy-inspired white, avoiding extremes of leanness or excessive reliance on reduction. Comprising 70% Chardonnay and 30% Grand Cru Weissburgunder, this wine not only achieves a great balancing act but also presents exceptional value, appealing to those with a taste for wines akin to Boisson-Vadot, Roulot, Ente, and others in that illustrious league.
