Bouchard Père et Fils is a highly regarded producer in Burgundy, renowned for their exceptional wines and diverse vineyards. Among their exquisite offerings is the Bouchard Père & Fils Beaune Grèves Vigne de l'Enfant Jésus 1er Cru Magnum 1.5L 2019, a wine that bears historical significance.
The vineyard's name, Vigne de L'Enfant Jésus, can be traced back to the birth of King Louis XIV. It was named in honour of a Carmelite nun who predicted the arrival of the long-awaited heir to the French throne. Bouchard Père & Fils now owns this prominent Beaune vineyard, located in the heart of the 32 hectares of the Beaune Grèves appellation, where it has a monopoly today.
This particular wine is a magnum, which is a bottle size equivalent to two standard wine bottles, or 1.5 litres. The magnum size offers several benefits, such as slower aging due to less oxygen exposure, a better aging potential, and a higher likelihood of the wine staying in its best condition.
In conclusion, the Bouchard Père & Fils Beaune Grèves Vigne de l'Enfant Jésus 1er Cru Magnum 1.5L 2019 is a historically significant wine from a highly regarded producer in Burgundy. Its magnum size offers several advantages, making it an excellent choice for wine enthusiasts and collectors alike.
Rich intense powerful, lifted perfumed, some deep raspberry, typical character for this immaculate wine, with its superb velvet texture in the mouth, very long finish, and some gravelly notes through the middle to lift the deep sweet raspberry-strawberry fruit.
The 2019 Beaune 1er Cru Les Grèves Vigne de l'Enfant Jesus is showing beautifully, bursting from the glass with scents of raspberries, warm spices, plums, and incense. Medium to full-bodied, sumptuous, and enveloping, with an ample core of fruit and supple, melting tannins, it's immensely charming and gourmand. I can't remember an Enfant Jesus that tasted so good, so young.
