Located in the heart of the town of Chablis, with a very rich history dating back to 1540, Domaine Pinson was among the first winemakers in Chablis to bottle their wines for public sale in 1880 when they also exported their first wine to America.
Made from 30+-year-old vines grown on Eastern aspects. Fruit for this Chablis comes from a parcel close to one of their holdings on the left bank of the Serein river in between 1er Cru Vaillons & 1er Cru Fôrets. The lieu-dit is called ‘Boucheron’. Soils here are made up of classic Kimmeridgian limestone. Made using 100% stainless steel.
The 2021 vintage in Chablis is one destined to excite lovers of traditional Chablis, with its clean, fresh and slightly leaner structure. A real blast from the past, these days. Pinson is an increasingly impressive emerging producer, even though they have been around since 1880, offering some excellent value. Their vines have considerable age and the wines are made in 100% stainless steel.
This fine example is deep yellow in colour. Tight and minerally with a hint of citrus, spices, nuts and florals, notably white flowers. Taut in style and really exhibiting the vintage lineage (if you prefer the bigger, more generous style, try their 2020). Some crunchy acidity, there is good focus here. Very much linear in style with decent length. Drink now over the next three to four years. If you want to see what a traditional Chablis looks like, this is for you.
