In the 2015 Grange, the nose unfurls with the signature elevated aromas, now joined by the commanding influence of American oak, interlaced with the bold essence of blackberry fruit. Hints of red meat, raspberries, asphalt, and a delicate trace of vanilla add to the intriguing symphony of scents. On the palate, it is a tapestry of density and concentration, revealing a full-bodied presence that remains beautifully balanced and firmly structured. A rich, velvety texture guides you through to a long, opulent finish. While complexity is not yet the star of the show at this stage—consider it a youthful chrysalis—it proudly showcases the primary fruit and oak elements. This is a Grange that holds the promise of thriving for three to four remarkable decades, a masterpiece in the making.
Deep dark ruby, with an opaque core, purple reflections, and subtle brightening on the rim. Underpinnings of nougat with fine herbal notes, floral nuances, a hint of mint, fresh orange zest, subtle notes of fine oak, tip-toes along. Juicy on the palate, hints of coconut, light chocolate, vivid, long lasting tannins, peppery mineral spiciness, bright freshness on the finish, with a salty finish, and a strong ageing potential. A very classic Grange wine in the good old sense.
This vintage of the famed wine is perhaps its most approachable to date. The nose is open and expressive, with waves of aromas ranging from licorice, currant and plum to baking spice, furniture polish, freshly picked olive, mushroom and vanilla. The mouthfeel is satiny in texture, awash with fruit and spices of all shapes and sizes, all wound by fine tannins. Drink through 2040. Christina Pickard
