The 2021 Gevrey hails from 50-year-old vines located in Les Seuvrées, bordering Morey, as well as the northern, limestone-rich terroirs of La Justice and Les Crais, with additional contributions from some cherished old vines in Les Jeunes Rois and grapes sourced from Champerrier and En Champs, both situated on the Brochon side of the appellation, making for a meticulously composed assemblage where 'complete' aptly characterizes the resulting wine, and the invaluable addition of the old vines in Les Jeunes Rois undoubtedly elevates this cuvée, a testament to Leroux's discerning decision to maintain it within the blend, with its quality being so exceptional that it has even tempted him to contemplate bottling this particular parcel as a separate cuvée; from a technical perspective, each parcel underwent separate vinification processes before being skillfully blended, with 80% of the grapes destemmed, and the wine was artfully aged in a combination of 600-litre and 225-litre barrels, of which 20% were new.
